About Us

Green Bed Company started in 2008. It is a part of Ross Appliances, which has been in business since 1975. What we do at Green Bed is obtain used beds that would ordinarily be discarded and go to the landfill. Where do we get them? We get them from a variety of sources, including some of the big hotels in Waikiki, the military, and from individuals.
We save the mattresses and refurbish them at our mattress factory at 401 Mokauea in Kalihi. The whole idea of the “Green” in our company name is that we are committed to saving the environment. Rather than allow old mattresses to be discarded in the landfill, we recycle them. We think of this as extending the life of the product, for many top quality mattresses are meant to last for twenty years or more. If it’s discarded by a hotel after five years, it still has plenty of life left in it. Why waste it?
Our crew of 4 to 5 mattress specialists are well trained. Upon hiring, they are sent to the mainland for training in mattress manufacture at one of the top mattress manufacturers in Los Angeles. Our seamstress, who does the finished product, has been with us for 28 years. We carefully inspect every product. Then we back it up with a guarantee.
The mattresses we produce come in all sizes, from twin to king size. They are all top brands, such as Sealey, Serta and Simmons. We only accept the top grade mattresses because only superior grade is worth refurbishing. A lesser product is not generally re-usable after five years. That is not the case with our refurbished mattresses. They should outlast the original guarantee.
